LETTER FROM SECRETARY GENERAL

Dear esteemed delegates, distinguished future diplomats, creators of tomorrow, As the president of Ankara High School Model United Nations Club and the Secretary General of the first edition of annual ALMUN, I am more than honoured to invite you to the conference taking place on 3-4-5 May at Ankara High School.

I am Cansu Naz Uslu, a senior year student at Ankara High School. When I arrived at this school, my first objective was to take part in an MUN club or founding an MUN club if there was not any. It was because I wanted to be heard and seen. I wanted to take an action and be a part of change. Luckily, I met our dear advisor Merve Şahin, who guided us and taught us everything we know, and that’s how our journey of ALMUN started. We were just three people; our dear Directory General Muharrem Salih Özen, who is not only a classmate but a brother to me, Our wise Academic Advisor Feride Merve Şahin and I. We grew, just like a sapling slowly growing into a big tree with lots of branches. Now we have a team of more than 40 people, and I am so grateful to them for working so diligently. ALMUN’24 team, thank you so sincerely. Also, my Deputy, Fatma Betül Bulut, whom I treasure so dearly. Your wisdom, diligence, and golden-hearted nature have been invaluable to our journey. Your objective approach to every problem we faced, coupled with the countless good memories we've shared, make me deeply grateful. You have been my guide throughout the journey of Model United Nations, and I am sincerely thankful for your unwavering support. Precious attendant, during your time in our conference, we want to hear your ideas to solve global issues. We aim to give you the environment where you feel safe, heard and seen. You will have the chance to speak upon important matters in the committees of DISEC, UNHRC, ECOSOC, SOCHUM, SPECPOL, ILO, SPECPOL and NATO. We, as the ALMUN’24 team, value change, aspiration, courage and diplomacy. We want to be the change for an individual and we expect an individual to change the world starting from themselves. We aspire to be the trigger of change. We redeem all our participants as individuals with strong aspirations and we want to be a step on the ladder one climbs during their journey of reaching their aspirations. We courage youth of today to speak upon global issues because we know architects of tomorrow are you and our world needs courage to speak and take action to become a better place. We believe in diplomacy as a means of problem-solving because we all know what terrible situations occur when diplomacy fails.
